Bio

My name is Denise Cook and I'm a 3-D character animator with a Bachelor of Arts (Animation) from Arizona State University. For as long as I can remember, I’ve possessed a passion for creating original characters and scenes, and storytelling. Over the years, this passion has only grown stronger, especially after discovering the world of 3-D character animation. I chose the path of a professional 3-D animator because I want to produce artwork that positively influences and creates relatable experiences for my audience, just as many artists, filmmakers, and animators have done for me.
My specialization lies in 3-D character animation, where I apply my knowledge of the fundamentals of animation, human body mechanics, lip-sync, and storytelling to my work. While my primary tool for animation is Autodesk Maya, I’m a quick learner when it comes to learning and using new software. For instance, I’ve taught myself to use Blender, ZBrush, Unreal Engine, Adobe Photoshop and After Effects, etc. Furthermore, I thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with others. Recently, I was a part of a team at ASU dedicated to creating an original animated short film. Within this project, my responsibilities included modeling one of our main characters and various scene assets, rigging the character models, animating, and rendering. I am deeply committed to honing my craft and am enthusiastically driven to continually expand my skills as a 3-D animator.
